Chengis, Cars and Haircuts

Chengis and Zoe get along famously, just as we anticipated. She is to the stage now where she enjoys playing with him, which often involves some sort of antagonizing on her part but also some genuine cuddling and affection. He responds in kind to both types of attention.

She is still a tree hugger!
We bought a membership to the Ontario Science Centre and find it a wonderful place to spend time. There is plenty to explore for kids (and adults) of all ages. On a recent visit, we couldn't tear Zoe away from this car. It looks like a Smart car which she has learned to recognize on the streets.
One day last week a kind and generous neighbour gave us a "hand-me-down-the-street" car which her girls have outgrown. She shared that in her culture it is good luck to receive used toys. The belief is that if the most recent owners have happy and healthy kids, that spirit is passed along with the toy. Her kids are both and more! Zoe was thrilled with the gift, particularly since it came pre-decorated with tons of stickers, including the "Zoe" sticker. Not to be outdone, we added the "KZ" sticker ourselves.
Having spent so much time in the park this summer, we made lots of new friends. One of them, Susie, has a dog, Nietzsche, who is exactly the same age as Chengis. Chengis and Nietzsche have shared many a happy romp over the last months. As it turns out, Susie is a hair stylist and let it be known that she does house calls. We took her up on the offer and had her for dinner and a haircut last night. There wasn't much she could do for Julian, but Sara took full advantage and is happy with the results. Of course Nietzsche came along and Chengis had his first playdate at home!
Here is Zoe watching her mommy get a haircut. A new experience that she was fascinated with!
Susie agrees that we should continue to let Zoe's hair grow and urged us to have patience with it always hanging in her eyes, which is a transitional phase. Zoe is getting a little better about letting us clip it back, but even that is a day-by-day allowance on her part. Susie did, however, insist that we cut one of Zoe's curls to save. She did the honours.
Mommy's new haircut, Zoe minus a curl, and then there's Daddy.....
Meanwhile, Chengis and Nietzsche had the run of the house. And a mighty good time!

Leeza gave Miles a kiss yesterday. It was really cute. He is a 100 lb labradoodle. He likes her too, especially when she has food. He did try to steal cheese from her hand today. UGH.
