Since we are already familiar with San Diego, we didn't feel the usual tourist pressure to do and see everything. Instead we enjoyed a much slower and relaxing place, revisiting some of our favourite activities and sights while taking time to enjoy the view, not to mention the awesome sunsets from our front deck every evening. Sometimes the most stressful part of the day was hurrying home in time for the sunset (stopping on the way to buy fresh fish to grill for supper)!
In between sunsets we enjoyed a couple afternoons at the beach, walks on the pier, a stroll through Hotel del Coronado, Sea World, tide pools, the awesome Cabrillo National Monument, whale watching and getting together with old friends.

That afternoon we ventured out on a whale watching boat with our fingers crossed for a sighting or two.
Oh my goodness, did we ever see whales! Breaching!! TEN times!!! A sea lion and some dolphins topped off the outing.
Cuddling with Grandma on the whale watching boat.
This was our first ride of the day at SeaWorld. That is Zoe in the front row wearing white... right under the streaming water!
This is Zoe right after the ride... and the reason she ended up with a new outfit from the gift shop!

Another day, another sunset.
And another.

Passing along an accumulation of wisdom and sage advice... most likely a one way conversation from granddaughter to grandfather!
The sun setting one last time on our wonderful week in San Diego.
