Zoe had her cast on for most of October but it didn't slow her down.  She had to miss the first few weeks of swimming lessons but continued going to karate.  Her class went on a field trip to an outdoor education centre where they learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin among other things.  October ended with the usual array of pumpkin patch visits and Halloween activities.

As part of the class trip they got to make a vegetable scarecrow to take back to their classroom.  The head was made by nailing a hat and cut veggies onto a pumpkin.

The head was pushed onto a stake above a stuffed sweater and pants.  Very cute idea!

When it came time to make our own jack-o-lantern, we borrowed the idea of nailing vegetables onto the pumpkin instead of the traditional carving.  Zoe was able to (and insisted on) do most of it all by herself.

Heavy rain was forecast for Halloween night so we opted for a more waterproof costume for trick-or-treating.  A last minute twist of some glow sticks turned Zoe into a glow-in-the-dark raindrop.
