One Year Ago Today - The Finale

Every family celebrates the birthdays of their children. For those who adopt, there are a number of additional anniversaries to acknowledge and celebrate: the dates of travel, the day you met the child, court day, gotcha day, and the day you returned home as a family. In the past ten weeks we have celebrated the one year anniversary of each of those events, the latest on April 4th, the day we returned to Canada.

Today we celebrate the final anniversary in our journey (thus far) to familyhood. One year ago today, a mere five days after returning home with our newly adopted Zoe, we adopted 7 week old Chengis, our forever puppy. He was so cute back then!
The unforgettable first kiss.
Zoe used to be bigger than Chengis. A year later the size gap has turned the other way. (Chengis now weighs more than twice as much as Zoe.)
But the kisses go on...
...and on.
Our weather over the last week has included accumulations of snow and ice (hopefully the last of the season) as well as warm spring-like temperatures. A walk on one of the warm days provided the perfect opportunity for blowing bubbles. Or trying to.
Zoe enjoying her first Easter basket, gifted to her early in the week.

For the record, our adoption of a brother or sister for Zoe will NOT conclude with the adoption of another puppy (Julian!!).

While we are at the beach, Miles, jumped up on the counter and ate the freshly baked banana bread I made this morning.
